Background
RISE previously approved this RFP that aims to bring Rust's riscv64-unknown-linux-gnu target triple to Tier-1 community supported status . The Rust community has a system of platform tiers to describe what is effectively the quality of the Rust toolchain and the code it generates for a given Rust target. Given that Rust is increasingly becoming a key requirement for Security and Safety across multiple market verticals, attaining Tier-1 is very important.
The RFP is being executed on by engineers from CodeThink and Ferrous Systems. This page provides relevant information to track progress. Some information has been added retrospectively for completeness.
